Navy W. Chambers

Navy W. Chambers, 89, of Du Quoin, passed away at 6:10 A.M., Monday, May 17, 2004 at the St. Paul's Nursing Home in Belleville, IL.
Navy was a retired coal miner and had worked in land reclamation.  He was U.S. Navy veteran of W.W. II serving in the Seebee's.  He was a member of the Spirit of Life Christian Church in Du Quoin.
He was born December 26, 1914 at Du Quoin, IL, the son of William and Harriet Ann (Gill) Chambers.
He married Velma Viola Wilson on May 2, 1948 at Piggott, Arkansas and she preceded him in death on April 22, 1988.
He is survived by one sister - Helen Chambers of Belleville, IL and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two sisters - Dorothy McDonald and Alice Chambers and one brother - Art Chambers.
Funeral services were at 3:00 P.M., Wednesday, May 19, 2004 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Gerald Wright officiating.
Friends called from 1 P.M. until the time of service on Wednesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Interment was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery at Du Quoin.
Military graveside rites were conducted.
Friends may make memorials to the American Heart Association.
